Once, the world champion of poker, now he is recovering from minor injuries after his home was invaded. Jonathan Duhamel, who makes his home in Montreal, Canada was at the wrong end of a house invasion earlier this week. Two unidentified perpetrators rang the doorbell, and once Duhamel had answered his door and opened it the men then forcibly entered his home. The intruders beat up on Duhamel a little bit, but he was treated and released from the hospital after suffering only minor injuries. At first his identity was understandably concealed, but his agent quickly let everyone know that his client was a victim, but also that he was doing just fine. Duhamel burst onto the world poker scene by winning roughly $9 million in 2010 and was at the same time the firstCanadian poker-born player to record a victory at the World Series of Poker’s Main Event. In his career he is about to eclipse the $10 million mark and is showing no sign of slowing down. While little is known about the intruders or their motives, Duhamel and his family are simply happy that he is safe. With all of the recent stories of good will and kindness circulating this holiday season this really puts a damper on the cheery spirit. Hopefully we can see Jonathan continue his winning ways as the calendars turn and the new year begins. The investigation is still being conducted but I think I speak for everyone when I say that I hope the two scumbags that robbed him get the justice they deserve. Few details were released and it is still unknown what the men took and whether or not they were brandishing weapons, police were very hesitant to give away this information.
