Yesterday, the Aussie Millions event was started by the beginning of the $1,000 No Limit Holdem tournament. The Aussie Millions lasts until the end of January more or less and has a running time of 18 days. In those 18 days there will be 26 poker tournaments for players to participate in. Some of the events that highlight the Aussie Millions are the $100,00 buy-in Challenge, $250,000 buy-in Challenge, $5,000 buy-in Chinese Poker tourney, and a $25,000 buy-in tournament. The Aussie Millions is one of the most highly anticipated poker events of the year. In fact, the PCA and Aussie Millions compete every year because they are so close together. In their main events each tournament hopes to have a bigger cash payout than the other, this ensures that players have the best opportunity to make away with cash. This is not simply the organizers saying this is one of the best tournaments either, players and fans agree too. A spokesman for PartyPoker recently labeled the Aussie Millions as being the best poker tournament in the world. Not only are the prize monies on the rise every year, but so too are attendances. Who knows, in a few years these $100,000 and $200,000 buy-ins can be upped even further.Fittingly enough, last year’s champion was an Aussie and David Gorr racked in over $2 million in winnings. Tyron Krost was victorious in 2010 and Stewart Scott finished in first in 2009. Why is that important? Well as of now Australian players have a 3 year winning streak going and are hoping to extend that streak even further during this event. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, and as always we will keep you up to date with all of the action at the Aussie Millions.
