The World Poker Tour (WPT) is set to host the WPT World Championship in December 2022, with a record-breaking $15 million guarantee.
The tournament will run from December 12-20 and will take place at Wynn Las Vegas.
WPT World Championship – The Details
The WPT World Championship has a buy-in of $10,400 and will be the flagship event of a three-week poker festival at Wynn which is set to kick off on December 1. Organizers have yet to unveil the full line-up of tournaments but it will be made available soon.
Based on the initial details released so far, the festival will also include the popular Wynn Mystery Bounty which has taken the poker world by storm in recent months. It will guarantee $2 million and will also give away an extra $100,000 to one lucky winner.
A $1,100 buy-in, $2M GTD Prime Championship will also be among the main highlights.
The highly-anticipated World Championship event needs to attract at least 1,500 entries to hit its $15 million guarantee and if that happens, it will be the biggest-ever field outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for any tournament with a buy-in of $10,000 or above, except for events with entry fees of $1 million. It even surpasses Wynn Millions Main Event in 2021 which was able to smash its $10 million guarantee.
With such a massive guaranteed prize pool, the WPT World Championship is set to create multiple millionaires in one day!
Adam Pliska, WPT CEO, describes the upcoming event as one of the most ambitious initiatives undertaken by WPT in its 20 years in the industry. Pliska said they’re delighted to join forces with Wynn Las Vegas for the historic event.
Qualify Via Online and Live Satellites
The WPT World Championship will feature multiple starting flights running from December 12 to 14, with players only allowed to enter each Day 1 once. Those who can’t afford the $10,400 buy-in have another option to get involved – online qualifiers!
The WPT will run dozens of qualifiers which will give players the chance to secure a seat into the huge event for a fraction of the price. The online satellites will be hosted by WPT’s poker subscription game service, ClubWPT. In addition to that, there will also be live satellites, the complete details of which will be announced soon.
