The World Poker Tour (WPT) is continuing its partnership with The Star Gold Coast, bringing three major poker tournaments to Australia in 2020 and 2021.
The new two-year partnership will see the return of the prestigious WPT Australia in September this year, with the WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast Festival also set to make a debut in April.
The Star will gear up for these upcoming festivals by expanding its floor plan, and increasing its poker tables from 14 to 25 to better accommodate the influx of players from different parts of the globe.
The venue will also invest in the latest technology to offer seamless registration options for Australian Poker players.
WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast
The inaugural WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast will take place over 11 days from April 24 to May 4, 2020. Buy-ins for the events start from $330, played in freezout and bounty formats.
The WPTDeepstacks Gold Coast Festival will return in 2021 and will run from April 23 to May 3, 2021.
Australia Festival
The next major tournament on the Stars calendar this year is the WPT Australia Festival, on September 24 to October 2, 2020. Among the highlights include the WPT Australia Main Event, as well as the WPT Deepstacks Australia.
The first ever WPT Australia Festival which was held in September last year was a massive success, attracting more than 3000 entries to generate a record-breaking prize pool of over $3.1 million.
World Poker Tour
The Star’s Chief Operating Officer Jess Mellor said poker is currently enjoying increasing popularity in Queensland and they are glad to showcase their property as a poker destination to players from around the world.

Registrations for the upcoming WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast will begin on March 9. The upcoming events will push through despite the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, with the country recording more than 50 confirmed cases.
