Canadian poker players like to make their way down to the Playground Poker Club in Montreal every year to take part in the popular World Cup of Cards live poker tournament. Canada is still coming to grips with the COVID-19 situation and hence the World Cup of Cards will not take place at the Playground Poker Club in 2021.
The good news for fans of the World Cup of Cards poker tournament is that the organizers decided to move the tournament online to the partypoker platform.
The World Cup of Cards Online Edition kicked-off on partypoker on June 16 and will run till July 8. This is the first time that the World Cup of Cards is being hosted as an online poker tournament. The partypoker lobby is currently showing a portion of the exciting events taking place at the World Cup of Cards and the full schedule is expected to be revealed in the coming days.
The organizers have taken into consideration the impact on the finances of poker players around the world and have put together a mix of events that features low buy-ins, medium buy-ins and high roller events to give players with different bankrolls a chance to participate in this special poker tournament.
Do note that this poker tournament is not restricted to Canadian poker players but is open to all partypoker players. As a result, partypoker has also scheduled these events to take place at different times of the day to enable players from around the world a chance to participate in these events.
World Cup of Cards – Main Event
The most exciting event at the World Cup of Cards will be the Main Event. The buy-in for the Main Event is fixed at $1,100 and the guaranteed prize pool is $1 million. The final table of the Main Event is scheduled for July 8 as partypoker did not want it to clash with the Euro 2020 finals
