PokerStars is marking its return to the US live poker scene with a massive festival named the “PokerStars Summer Series” which gets underway this August in Pennsylvania’s largest city, Philadelphia.
The series, which boasts a huge $1 million guaranteed prize pool, is the first live poker event to be hosted by the operator in the US in six years.
PokerStars Summer Series Hits the US
The upcoming festival runs from August 24 to September 10 at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The series culminates in three major events spread across three weeks of action, featuring different buy-in levels with guarantees ranging from $200,000 to $500,000.
In the first week, there’s a $550 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament which kicks off on August 24. The event comes with $200,000 in guaranteed prize money and features three starting flights, with the final table playing out on August 27. There are turbo satellites running throughout the week as well, which cost just $80 to enter.
During week two, players will compete in a $1,100 buy-in, $300,000 GTD NLH event. The tournament also has three starting flights running from September 1-3, with the final action scheduled for September 4. Players may also enter the tournament for a more affordable price, via $125 turbo satellites.
The biggest event of the series takes place in the final week, a $2,200 NLH tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. It kicks off on September 8 and has two Day 1 flights, with the winner set to be crowned on September 10.
The PokerStars Summer Series also offers players the opportunity to win their way into the PokerStars US COOP Main Event via $80 and $125 buy-in satellites running throughout the series. There’s a pair of $300 satellites to the PokerStars US COOP High Roller taking place in the final week as well.
All in all, the full schedule features 27 tournaments, including the live satellites and side events.
PokerStars to Award Summer Series Packages Online
PokerStars is awarding Summer Series packages via online satellites across its three US online poker markets – New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. The satellites start at $5, with six packages to be given away (three in NJ-MI, and another three in PA).
The packages include the buy-in for the $550, $1,100, or $2,200 event, with an extra $1,700 for travel and accommodation expenses. The packages will be up for grabs on July 23, July 28, and July 30.
