ONSCOOP – Key Details and Highlights
The inaugural ONSCOOP runs for two weeks until April 11 and features 43 individual events, each with three buy-in versions – Low, Medium, and High. That means Canadian poker players from Ontario have a total of 129 tournaments to choose from, with a wide range of buy-ins available. 36 of the tournaments are listed as Championship events.
Players can enter the series for as low as CAD $5, with the highest entry fee set at CAD $2,000.
The schedule features multiple formats and poker variants, including Five Card PLO, Omaha Hi/Lo, mixed rotation, and 5-Card Draw. In addition to that, there’s a selection of Progressive Knockout (PKO) tournaments available, played in different forms, such as Total KO in which the whole buy-in goes to the bounty prize pool.
There are three Main Events on the schedule, headlined by the Medium version which costs $300 to enter and features the biggest guarantee of CAD $150,000. The other two Main Events come with buy-ins of $50 and $1,000 respectively with $30,000 and $70,000 guaranteed. All in all, Ontarians will be competing for $250,000 in total guarantees across the three Main Events.
Other key events include the Sunday Special Championship on March 26 with buy-ins of $20 ($7,500 GTD), $200 ($48,000 GTD), and $2,000 ($50,000 GTD). The Super Tuesday Championship on April 4 is also worth a try. Players may choose from buy-ins of $50, $300, and $1,000, with $10,000, $28,000, and $38,000 in guarantees up for grabs respectively.
Extra Prizes on Offer via Promotions
ONSCOOP won’t be complete without promotions that give players the chance to walk away with some extra cash on top of the regular prizes on offer at the events. There will be a Player of the Series leaderboard for each tier, alongside an Overall Player of the Series race. PokerStars will be awarding $40,000 across these four leaderboards. The operator is also giving away CAD $60,000 in extra prizes via freeroll tournaments and added-value satellites.
PokerStars Ontario is also running a special Spin & Go tournament that allows players to convert their $3 buy-in into a $300 ONSCOOP Main Event seat.
