Summary
- Poker Power and PokerStars have joined forces to launch a 4 week bootcamp
- This online bootcamp aims to empower female poker players
- The bootcamp will focus on teaching women life skills and how to play poker
In recent years, we’ve seen the industry ramp up its efforts to attract more women into poker, as female players remain outnumbered by their male counterparts at the poker tables. Various organizations and operators have been running several events and initiatives targeting the female demographic. Among those active in this aspect are PokerStars and Poker Power (formerly Poker Powher).
Women’s Bootcamp to Teach Poker and Life Skills
PokerStars and Poker Power are joining forces for a new Women’s Bootcamp that aims to teach aspiring female players how to improve their game as well as learn new skills that they can apply on and off the felt. The Bootcamp will welcome novice female players keen on honing their skills and taking their game to the next level. They will be selected through an anonymous survey carried out over the past few weeks.
The participants will be exposed to actual action at the tables via special tournaments and home games hosted by PokerStars. They will also take part in practice sessions on Poker Power’s teaching app, “Poker Power Play“. Additionally, there will be one-on-one tutorials with PokerStars ambassadors Lali Tournier, Jen Shahade and GJ Reggie.
Along the way, the students will learn how to develop confidence, determination, and discipline, which are some of the key qualities needed to achieve success not only in poker but in life in general.
According to Poker Power Managing Director Erin Lyndon, the Bootcamp isn’t just about the game of poker, as it will also equip women with important life skills, including strategic decision-making and negotiation, that can help them succeed in multiple areas, including business, parenthood, and general life.
The Bootcamp will also enable the candidates to connect and build a community where they can share insights, knowledge, and experiences.
PSPC Platinum Pass Opportunity
Upon the conclusion of the Bootcamp, the candidates will get the chance to compete in the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague where a Platinum Pass is up for grabs. If any of the female candidates win the pass, they will automatically qualify for the prestigious PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) which will take place in the Bahamas in January 2023.
