Day 3 of the European Poker Tour’s Copenhagen event saw 72 players return for a shot at 48 spots in the money. Leading the way into the third day was American pro Melanie Weisner, who headed a field that still included several big names with recent success in the poker world.By the end of the day, though, Weisner would find herself eliminated in 28th place. Though Weisner held the chip lead for parts of the day and was still in excellent position when the bubble broke, a double of tough all-in losses with AQ would spell the end of her run towards her first EPT title. But two other notable players came back from short stacks to put themselves into the top 10 among the 24 players remaining, putting them in great shape for a run to the final table.Last year’s World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Martin Staszko entered Day 3 with one of the shortest stacks in the field. However, he quickly doubled up, which sent him on a great run that would last throughout the entire day. By the time the day ended, Staszko was up to 432,500 chips, good for 9th place.Steve O’Dwyer had a similar story to tell. The Day 1 chip leader started with a small stack, but was able to double through Weisner late in the day to put himself back in serious contention. By the end of play, O’Dwyer had moved up to 10th place, just a few thousand chips behind Staszko. The chip leader heading into Day 4 is Pierre Neuville, a Belgian poker pro who has had solid results on both the EPT and at the WSOP, though without any major wins. His most notable performance was a 2nd place finish at WPT Vilamoure in 2009, which earned him €257,681.Play will continue on Friday, when the last 24 players will fight for eight spots at the final table. The eventual winner will take home approximately €340,000.
