Global Poker is bringing back its flagship tournament series, the GOAT Championship.
Season III of the series will feature 630,000,000 in Gold Coins (GC), and 1,400,000 in Sweeps Coins (SC). The series got underway on July 19 and will run through August 8.
With a bustling schedule of 204 unique events running for three weeks, there’s plenty of action to enjoy at GOAT III, from traditional freezeouts, to shootouts and heads-up tournaments.
There’s also no shortage of exciting prizes and perks to be won, with the winners set to receive trophies and branded merchandise, that’s on top of cash prizes up for grabs at the series, depending on the type of tournament they’re playing.
How to Play for Real Money on Global Poker
Global Poker operates differently from the traditional online poker rooms in that it adopts a sweepstakes model wherein players are only allowed to purchase Gold Coins at the site.
GCs are essentially just play money with no real monetary value, but with each purchase, players receive free Sweeps Coins which carry the same value as the US dollar. Players can use these coins on SC games and tournaments and they can be converted to real-money winnings.
Because players are not directly purchasing SC coins, the model does not violate any laws. This makes Global Poker’s operations legal in the US.
So how can you play for real money at the ongoing GOAT Championship?
There are two main types of tournaments that you can enter at the GOAT Championship: if you’re on the hunt for real-money prizes, then choose the SC events. The festival is offering 1,400,000 SC, meaning there’s $1,400,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. Apart from that, every SC winner will be given the chance to represent Global Poker in any live tournament of their choice.
On the other hand, the GC events will not be awarding real money. But this should not discourage players as they can still win cool prizes in the form of a GOAT trophy and branded merchandise. All GC event winners will take home exclusive apparel sporting the new GOAT logo. This prize won’t be up for grabs in SC tournaments.
A Champion Pack will be awarded to all winners, both in the SC and GC tournaments.
Global Poker is also running freeroll tournaments through August, including pop-up freerolls during weekends. This will give players the opportunity to take part in the Goat Championship for free.
