GGPoker is currently running its biggest-ever online tournaments series, the $200 million-guaranteed World Festival. Those in Ontario won’t be able to compete in the massive festival as it is open only to players on the operator’s dot-com platform.
But Ontarians are still part of the party, with GGPoker hosting a similar series exclusive to the Canadian province. “Ontario Festival” is a much smaller version of the World Festival but still carries a huge guarantee of $3 million!
GGPoker Ontario Festival – Key Details
Dubbed the biggest tournament series in Ontario, the “GGPoker Ontario Festival” kicked off on GGPoker.ca on May 7 and will run through June 4. The series adopts the same format as the ongoing festival for international players, with the tournaments split into three buy-in levels to suit every bankroll – Low, Medium and High.
Players can enter an event for as little as CAD 2.50, with buy-ins going as high as CAD 1,500. The majority of events have buy-ins of less than CAD 525.
GGPoker has yet to release the full schedule of the series, as the existing line-up only includes tournaments taking place until May 15. But based on the current number of events, the Ontario Festival could feature more than 300 poker tournaments.
Apart from the guaranteed prize pool of CAD 3 million, players can win extra via three leaderboards covering all buy-in tiers. There’s CAD 25,000 up for grabs each in the Low, Medium, and High leaderboard for a total of CAD 75,000 in additional prizes.
Main Highlights
The main highlight of the festival is easily the Main Event which comes with a CAD 1,500 buy-in and a guarantee of CAD 200,000. The tournament takes place on June 4.
What makes the series extra special is the Mystery Bounty format making its debut on GGPoker.ca. The Ontario Festival features four Mystery Bounty tournaments which players can enter for $5.25, $52.50, $210, and $525. Each tournament has multiple Day 1 flights.
Canadian poker players will compete for CAD 425,000 in total guarantees across the four tournaments with the final stage taking place on May 14, May 21, May 28, and June 4.
The series also includes some GGPoker signature events, such as GGMasters and MILLION$, which offer huge prizes. The rest of the schedule is made up of a wide range of formats, including Progressive Knockouts, Superstacks, Turbos, and Hypers.
