888 is flying high with the news that their expected profits are going to be above and beyond market expectations this year. The news was released from their home camp which is located in Gibraltar. Just how exceptional are these profits supposed to be? According to 888 their original projections were about $35 million, but now they are expecting no less than $51 million in earnings. This comes as no surprise because the general economy in Britain and the world is struggling, in turn most people are not leaving their house to go to stores and spend a lot of money. Instead many folks are simply staying in and using their money to play online poker for real money.888 already has a plan for what they are going to do with these excess earnings. In a public statement from 888, they informed people by saying, “The group intends to invest in these markets in order to establish and build market share. This significant strategic investment, along with the increases in gaming duty, will have an impact on the group’s profit expectations. However, the board still expects results for the year ending December 31, 2012 to be slightly ahead of current market expectations.”Despite the fact that 888 is expecting very high profits this year, their trading stance has not responded so nicely. Most would expect their shares to rise significantly, but such has not happened. Over the course of this past year, shares have risen only 1 and a half percent, a relatively small improvement. After this latest press release from the company, many experts are expecting those shares to rise at a faster rate, but we will have to see how traders respond. 2011 was a rough year for a lot of poker operators, so it comes as good news to see one flourishing despite all of the recent hardships undertaken by the industry.
