888poker decided to go big with its XL Autumn Series which started on Sep 17 and will run till Oct 2. The online poker operator listed a total of 34 events to take place during this series along with a number of side events.
The total guaranteed prize money promised by 888poker during the XL Autumn Series was $2 million.
Over 40 Percent Of Events End Up In Overlays
The on-going XL Autumn Series is getting a lot of attention because over 40 percent of the events conducted so far have ended up in overlays. This has given poker players a lot of value as the XL Autumn Series came back after a 2 year break and has now resulted in loads of overlays which are helpful for the players as there is less competition at the table to win the guaranteed prize money in each event.
The buy-ins for the XL Autumn Series starts from $5.50 and will go up to $525 for the high-roller event, appealing to low and mid-stakes players. 888poker will not be happy with the results as it took a chance on putting together another $2 million tournament.
888poker had a lot of success with its XL Spring Series which ran in May and had as many as 104 tournaments and $2 million in guarantees. While the XL Spring Series turned out to be a big success for 888poker, the XL Autumn Series has fallen short which is why over 40 percent of events have had overlays.
Stats show that out of the 24 numbered events in the XL Autumn Series, 10 of them had overlays.
Big Events Yet To Come In XL Autumn Series
While 888poker will be a bit disappointed with the XL Autumn Series so far, it will be hoping the series can finish on a strong note as some of the biggest events are about to take place over the next few days.
One of these events is the Main Event which has a $250 buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. 888poker players will be keen on playing the Main Event as it could also result in potential overlays and result in massive value to those who finish in the money.
