PokerStars recently announced that it plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary in November with a number of special promotions that will run under the Big 20 banner. The online poker operator has a lot of reason to celebrate this special milestone as the journey over the last 20 years has had a lot of ups and downs.
However PokerStars has done well for itself and continues to be the number one online poker operator in the world in the vast majority of online markets that it operators in. While PokerStars has faced its fair share of scandals and criticism over the years, it continues to have the biggest database of online poker players in the world.
To take players down memory lane, PokerStars is set to run a special promotion titled The Big 20 Rewind. This promo will start on Nov 16 and will end on Dec 4 with each of the 20 days featuring a special themed event.
While PokerStars is yet to release full details on The Big 20 Rewind, the news is that each day will feature a theme that is based on an accomplishment that PokerStars has achieved in the last two decades. All 20 events are expected to come with reasonable buy-ins and big guarantees.
The Cash Game Leaderboards gives away $20,000 daily and the Spin & Go Leaderboard gives away $17,500 daily. During the Big 20 promo which runs throughout Nov, both leaderboards are expected to get a financial boost from PokerStars – the final amount is yet to be confirmed.
The Big 20 Finale
The 20th anniversary celebration will end with the Big 20 Finale Main Event. The buy-in is set at just $55 and PokerStars is putting up a whopping $5 million guarantee. To hit this guarantee, PokerStars will need over 90,000 player registrations and the online poker operator is confident of a strong response to this event.
There are also a number of freeroll events running on PokerStars for the Big 20 Finale Main Event. These freerolls will commence on Nov 08 and will conclude on Nov 30.
