Some of poker’s biggest names are set to take part in “Raising the Stakes for Vision“, a virtual fundraising tournament organized by The Chicago Lighthouse. Proceeds of the event will benefit people who are blind and visually impaired, as well as veterans and those with disabilities.
Some of the top poker pros who are going to be a part of this virtual tournament include top female poker pro Lexy Gavin, the “First Lady of Poker” Linda Johnson and World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champions Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer. The virtual tournament will take place on February 26.
Based on figures from the National Eye Institute, the number of Americans experiencing blindness or visual impairment will double by the year 2050. By taking part in the upcoming virtual tournament, poker players will help make the future brighter and more colorful for those who are visually impaired.
“Raising the Stakes for Vision”
To be able to participate in the event, players should pay a registration fee of $100, equivalent to one seat. If you are able to successfully invite four of your friends or fellow players, you will be rewarded with an additional two rebuys (a total of $200).
Participants will compete for a grand cash prize of $5,000, and the rest of the top table finishers, as well as the top three remaining female players will also receive prizes in the form of gift cards.
Players can also take advantage of a free online poker tutorial prior to the actual tournament in order to prepare themselves for the virtual action. The hour-long tutorial will be hosted by Poker Powher and will help players build their confidence while competing at the tables. It will also teach them how to use the online platform through simulated hands.
