The MoMoMo PKO Series, which kicked off on Americas Cardroom (ACR) on September 9, has now been cancelled. The PKO festival was supposed to run for seven full weeks, featuring a massive $50 million guaranteed prize pool, but the series had a poor showing during the first month, leading the US-facing site to drop the remaining events.
ACR has confirmed that the $5 million-guaranteed VENOM PKO scheduled for October 23 will take place as planned.
ACR broke the news to its players and was very transparent with what went wrong. The informed players that the MoMoMo PKO series failed to meet their projected targets and the overlays had become so huge that they could no longer sustain them. The online poker room admitted they overestimated the series and went “too big, too soon“, considering that the PKO concept is relatively new to the online platform.

ACR said they have always remained committed to giving players innovative tournaments and exciting new formats, though it means they have to push the envelope as much as they can. The statement looked back to the early editions of their Million Dollar Sunday tournaments which had always resulted in overlays, but ACR kept going because they believed in the tournaments’ potential.
The site apologized to the players, but they also hinted at running another PKO series in the future.
$5M GTD Venom Tournament Will Proceed
Those who have enjoyed MoMoMo PKO series so far will take comfort in knowing that while ACR pulled the plug on the rest of the series, it decided to keep the remaining $1 million guaranteed events on the schedule, the final one taking place on October 18. The Venom PKO Tournament which boasts of a whopping $5 million guarantee is also still on, meaning PKO players still have massive prizes to compete for.
The upcoming Venom PKO Main Event is the largest PKO tournament in poker history, awarding huge bounty prizes of up to five figures for every single elimination. The event has four starting flights, and will conclude on November 4.
Positive Reaction From Players
Sudden cancellations of tournaments normally result in a negative reaction from players, but in this case, ACR’s decision had been graciously accepted by the players, some of them appreciating the site for their honesty and transparency.
Some players suggested ACR could have just lowered or removed the guarantee altogether and allow the series to continue to run. Those enjoying the format also said ACR should just add PKO tournaments to their regular schedule.
