The live poker scene around the world has dried up in a matter of weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. This has significantly impacted thousands of poker players but thankfully online poker has come to the rescue with multiple online festivals scheduled for April and May.
While players will definitely miss the sound of chips and cards hitting the table, the boisterous rail, and that unique mix of thrill and exhaustion during live competitions, they still have options to continue the action, earn money, improve their skills, and entertain themselves while at home.
But for American poker pro and reigning GPI Female Player of the Year Kristen Bicknell, more than anything else, the current situation should serve as reflection time for all of us, that there are no guarantees in life and that every moment should be treasured and not taken for granted.

While Bicknell is thankful that she can still continue doing what she loves while on self-quarantine, she recognizes the fact that majority of the people all around the world have had to deal with the crisis the hard way, and her heart goes out to all of them. For the meantime, the Canadian poker pro is gearing up for the upcoming Poker Masters Online, which is set to kick off on April 12, at partypoker.
Bicknell’s Seven-Figure Goal
Poker Masters is a popular high-stakes tournament organized by Poker Central and held annually at the ARIA Resort & Casino. But due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, organizers pushed for an online edition of the festival, in partnership with partypoker. Bicknell has had some great memories with Poker Masters – in 2019, she became the first female poker player to win a Poker Masters event after taking down Event #6: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $408,000.
Bicknell is one of the most successful female poker players of this generation. She’s won the Ladies GPI Player of the Year for three straight years, and has had great runs in some of the world’s biggest poker tournaments. But something is still missing from her colorful poker resume – a seven-figure live victory, and this is why Bicknell does not want to rest on her laurels.
But even though she won’t be able to achieve that goal at Poker Masters Online, Bicknell is still keen on making it big in the online poker sphere. She currently has over $5 million in online tournament cashes, and she wants to keep increasing those numbers.
