The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has turned so many different poker players into millionaires overnight. The latest ‘overnight’ millionaire is Michigan poker pro Dash Dudley who was the winner of Event #52: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship at the 2019 WSOP. He had to go through four and a half levels on the final day and came out on top to win $1,086,967 and a coveted WSOP gold bracelet.
As soon as he realized he was finally taking home his very first bracelet, an emotional Dash Dudley quickly approached his rail and hugged his fiancé Racquel, along with his friends and family, who all erupted in joy and excitement following his massive victory. The event attracted a total of 518 entries, generating a prize pool of $4,869,200. Dudley, who hails from Lansing, Michigan, defeated UK’s James Park who took home $671,802 for his second place finish.
Final Table Action
Only eight players returned for a live-streamed final table which began on Tuesday afternoon. New Yorker and WSOP bracelet winner Will Jaffe was the first player to be eliminated, earning $94,380 for his 8th place finish. He was quickly followed by Russia’s Andrey Razov who busted in 7th place for $125,215.
It took around two hours for the next elimination to occur, with the remaining six players all holding deeper stacks. Eoghan O’Dea from Dublin, Ireland, who also made the final table of the 2011 WSOP Main Event, moved all-in with pocket kings against the pocket aces of American pro Jeremy Ausmus. Ausmus eventually secured the pot after the turn and river, sending O’Dea to the rail in sixth place for $169,173.
Kyle Montgomery left the table after running into Park’s pocket aces. The Florida native earned $232,680 for his fifth-place finish. Park called Ausmus’ shove with pocket aces, and Ausmus had a wrap, but the turn and river were of no help for him, so he ended up in fourth place for $325,693.
After eliminating Ausmus, Park was the chip leader going into three-handed play. A short-stacked Dudley managed to find a key double up with trip eights against Park’s trip threes. He then doubled through Joel Feldman with pocket aces against the Australian‘s pocket kings. Dudley took the outright lead and Feldman would later exit the game in third place for $463,814.
The heads-up play began with both Dudley and Park virtually even in chips, but Dudley quickly pulled ahead and by the time the final hand arose, he was leading the chips 2-to-1. After half an hour into the match, Dudley came out on top and his win turned him into a millionaire. Following his massive win, Dudley’s total live earnings now sit at $1,730,398.
